Things are starting to heat up here on the Gulf Coast and that means we will all be doing one thing very soon, no matter if you lease a home on the beach or rent in Crestview – cranking up our air conditioning!

We all know how hot it can be starting in May, and let’s not even talk about how hot it can get in your Gulf Coast rental home come August. All that running of the A/C is sure to send your electric bill sky high, but what can you do? We certainly wouldn’t expect, or want, you to go without but there are other ways to compensate for your higher electric use.

Handy Tips: Fix It With Everyday Items

If you happen to be sharing your Northwest Florida rental home with a toddler, odds are you’ve come upon this sight before. Crayon marks on a wall can be a pain to deal with but an everyday household item can fix this quickly!

Items around your home have surprising uses, such as rubbing non-gel toothpaste over crayon marks brings them right up out of your paint. Do you have a hole starting to form in a window or door screen? Grab that bottle of clear nail polish to stop it in its’ tracks! Cornstarch will remove grease stains from your kitchen walls while vinegar from your pantry will do everything from kill weeds to clean your coffeemaker and floors. Don’t let small problems in your Gulf Coast long-term rental get you down, fix them easily without ever leaving the house.

Handy Tips: Mold Prevention!

Either the title of this blog or the image to the right sent shivers of “ew” up your spine, right? We couldn’t agree more so let’s talk preventing mold in your rental home!

We all love living in these great rental homes on the Gulf Coast but with our awesome climate come some not so awesome side effects including the nearly instant growth of mold at the first sign of a leak or water source of any sort. The humidity and heat nurture it and you get to watch as it flourishes if not caught early.

 A few ways to prevent sudden infestation and takeover include reporting leaks, be they under the sink, in your AC unit or anywhere within your rental home, to us for immediate repair. Also, keep that heat and humidity at bay by running your air conditioner routinely. And, if you do notice growth, contact us! Mold is not only harmful to your home, but can be harmful to you too.
